Farm in Meltina – Family & farm at Langfennhof on the Salto

At home at Langfennhof

At Langfennhof, nature, family, and farm life belong together. Here on our farm above Meltina, 1,500 metres up on the sunny high plateau of Salto, we live with our animals – surrounded by greenery, with panoramic views and open doors for all who come for their holidays. What matters to us? Warmth, genuine togetherness, and the joy of simple living.

Living, laughing, and getting things done together

At Langfennhof, you are not just guests – you are part of our farm life. We, the Hafner/Perkmann family, are delighted to share our special place on the Salto with you.

Klaus – our farmer, hearty and with a sense of humour

Klaus is the farmer at Langfennhof and loves spending his time in the barn with his cows. He knows every corner of the farm and always has a good tip ready – whether for your next hike or a relaxed chat. Meet him, and you will quickly see the passion behind everything he does.

Elisabeth – a hostess with an eye for detail

Whether in the garden, the kitchen, or at breakfast, Elisabeth puts her heart into making everyone feel at home. She loves her herbs, homemade treats, and always has time for a chat – plus, she will happily share great local excursion tips.

Lea – the little explorer

Lea, our eldest, is inquisitive and passionate about stones, fossils, and all things nature. She loves showing guests around the farm and sharing fascinating stories about the area – and maybe even a few treasures she has discovered.

Lynn – the animal lover

Lynn loves animals above all else. Whether cows or rabbits – she knows every coat and every name. But her favourite thing is helping Mum in the kitchen with cooking and baking.

Romy – our little whirlwind

Romy is the youngest, full of energy, and always ready with a laugh. She adds sparkle to daily life, making sure it’s never boring – a little ray of sunshine for every day.

1,500 metres above, close to the sky

High above Val d’Adige, on the sunny high plateau of the Salto, lies Langfennhof – a place with panoramic views and soul. Surrounded by larch meadows, hiking trails, and a panorama you will never forget: Passo Sarentino, Corno del Renon, Sciliar, Sassolungo, Sassopiatto, Alpe di Siusi, Catinaccio, Latemar, Laugen, and the peaks of the Gruppo di Tessa.
Up here, the world is wide and life is peaceful. A place of energy where you can take a deep breath. Hikes and bike tours start right from your doorstep, the village is just a few minutes away – and if you like, you can take the bus or cable car down into the valley.

Our animal companions

There’s always something happening at Langfennhof – cows with their calves, purring cats, clucking hens, and our rabbits Flauschi, Chilli, Lulu, and Nera are all part of the fun. Anyone who wishes is welcome to visit the barn or join a short farm tour. You will discover how much heart and joy goes into life with our animals – genuine, honest, and part of everyday life.

Out in the open, soaking up the sun

A vibrant garden surrounds Langfennhof, waiting to be explored. Our salads, herbs, and tea plants flourish here – feel free to pick what you like. There’s plenty of space for children to play: a swing, a slide, a sandpit, and a large meadow. On warm evenings, there’s laughter at the barbecue area, stick bread over the fire, and chestnuts roasted in autumn. Whether you’re enjoying breakfast in the garden or relaxing on the sun lawn with mountain views – life is good outside.

Caring for our farm and for nature

Life in the mountains also means living in harmony with nature. Water is a precious commodity up here – it is pumped up from the valley and used with gratitude. We therefore ask you to use water, electricity and fire with care. We ask you to be particularly careful on warm, dry days – whether smoking outdoors or handling open flames. The mountain and nature thank you.
